Mapping out pollution

Gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
of gas and condensed phase samples

Objective:

The aim of the project is to analyze the outcome of the applied technology for degrading VOCs.

Justification:

The Climatic units installed at industrial sites are to be validated. In order to make sure that the units are performing well, we are analyzing water and gas samples from them. For this purpose, GC-MS is used as the analytical instrument.

Method:

Three different adsorbents packed in thermal desorption tubes are used for sampling VOCs. The tubes are then analyzed with TD-GC/MS-FID.

Expected outcome:

Develop a series of methods to characterize pollution from clients. By sampling and analyzing the sample composition before and after a unit, GC-MS analysis will be used to determine compound specific cleaning efficiencies.

Tangible goals:

The aim of the project is to develop methods and be able to detect VOCs at ppb level.
